Lying alongside the very heart of Swansea, the city's marina offers 600 berths and is full of leisure boats. Attractions here are varied and many line the waterfront area, including eateries, shops and even sailing schools. Working locks lie on the eastern side of the marina, connected by pedestrian bridges. Also nearby is an appealing beach, with fine sand.

The Swansea Bay Rider is always a popular attraction and particularly appealing to families. This colourful land train operates all through the summer and stops at a number of locations around the bay. Bright red, yellow and black, the Bay Rider is hard to miss and runs between the St. Helen's area and Southend, offering scenic views and making stops at Blackpill, West Cross, Norton and also Oystermouth along the route.

Several superb theatres are scattered around the city centre and regular host musicals, concerts, comedy gigs, plays, dance events and exhibitions. A modern sporting stadium with gleaming white architecture and the official host of the local Swansea City Football Club, the Liberty Stadium is also home to the city's Ospreys rugby team and offers a stylish venue for many top events. Sited in central Swansea and full of tropical attractions suiting all ages, Plantasia is an enormous hot house, complete with many exotic plants and animals. Expect to find cocoa trees, colourful orchids, Cotton-top Tamarin monkeys, lizards, ponds with koi carp, terrapins, frogs and even a butterfly house. Plantasia is divided into a humid climate zone and a cooler, arid area and offers many large plant specimens. An in-house cafe and gift shop selling rain forest related souvenirs will complete your visit.

Sited in the scenic Swansea Valley, the Swansea Vale Railway dates back to 1816, when it was used as a tram route for transporting coal from a nearby pit. Today the railway features a number of beautifully restored steam locomotives and carriages, offering a glimpse of the past. Passengers are able to enjoy regular train rides, with the route stretching for just under 1.5 km / 1 mile, to the Cwm Crossing.
